About

OverviewPrivateClub is an end-to-end encrypted event hosting platform that allows users to join and create both public and private events. With over 3,000 users, the platform faced challenges with inconsistent UI components and unclear branding. As the lead UX designer/manager, my goal was to address these issues, while delivering 7+ new features and rebranding the platform under a tight deadline. I focused on delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to ensure timely completion.

Concept, designs

& code prototype in 3 Months

I'm proud of this project because we were able to design and code a static prototype from scratch within three months. While we did conduct usability test, the goal was to build something. Here is how the work was broken down.

01 Month 1—Research & Design

I ran a quick survey to understand current experiences with a total of 15 responses. I designed the first few set of screens to define the visual style and information architecture.

02 Month 2— Code & Design

Once the overall basic designs were set, The dev team coded the whole thing using ReactJS as a base for the UI library.

03 Month 3—Usability test & paper

The team ran 8 usability tests to test if the product was usable and useful and wrote up our paper for the project.

Outcome

The concept and design were recognized by various stakeholders and industry target users, we have received a lot of positive feedback.

User research

results & findings

We conducted different forms of research to understand this problem. The research provided us with a deeper understanding of the event creation, club management n and discovery experience.

01 Observation Study

I observed how people use PrivateClub and discussed them. This helped us understand what users need.

02 Competitor Analysis

We analyzed 4 competitors—Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, Discord, and Meetup—to see how they host events experience for admin and attendees.

03 9 Semi-Structured Interviews

We conducted 9 semi-structured interviews, including 2 PrivateClub users: Event Hoster, and attendees. Our goal was to understand Event hosting experiences, needs, and pain points.

Challenge 01

Simplifying Event Creation

How can we help our users create events with the least possible effort?

Streamlined the process into two steps, focusing on essential information initially and allowing users to complete details at their convenience.

Challenge 02

AI-generated images & pre-filled content

How can we magically fill up the page without the user lifting a finger?

This ensures that event details are automatically populated, overcoming the common problem of incomplete event pages, with over 50% of users skipping essential elements.

Admin Dashboard

How might we design a dashboard for easy club management?

To Release is to simplify the management of club members, providing users with a comprehensive set of tools for maintaining organization and fostering effective communication within their clubs.

With that, here is the prototype hosted on netlify. We also did 8 usability tests with this prototype to determine the design's effectiveness
